title: Game 3: Bay Area Bulldogs vs. Enforcers category: hockey content: |
The third game of the season was a loss, 3-5. We still don't know how to play with a lead, because we're just not used to the concept yet.
It was said that the Enforcers are a somewhat more physical team. That assessment is not totally inaccurate.
First period bummer: the Enforcers earned a goal at the end of the first period. From my point of view it was too close to call. If I toe the party line, I have to say it shouldn't count. But we don't have video replay in this league. And bad calls happen once in a while. Learn to live with them.
I spent a major penalty in the box for a teammate's infraction. After I tripped over someone going for the puck near the Enforcers' net, I was trying to get back up when their goalie took exception to something one of our players had done. The goalie basically slashed at him. He responded with a flagrant high stick to the head. Goalie got two minutes, our forward got five and a pink slip. It's not so bad because we ended up scoring short-handed after their minor penalty expired.
At a later point in the game I got some actual penalty kill experience.

The usual plug: If you feel like following the team, look for the Bay Area Bulldogs in Conference D of the Pacific Hockey Association.
