title: Playoff: Bay Area Bulldogs vs. Enforcers category: hockey content: |

I don't know what I can say about this 0-5 (or 1-5 if the refs were generous) loss that will make it hurt less. The score was only 0-1 against us at the end of two periods, yet we cratered in the third. I did fall on my hip, so there is a little bit of physical pain. I still feel directly responsible for about 3 of those goals. Two of them were quite frustrating, as my attempts to clear the puck away from the slot found Enforcer sticks.

I'm trying not to be too negative about it, but if my job as a defenseman is to prevent scoring opportunities, I did a poor job last night. I did have a couple good moments -- one blocked shot and one pile-up in front of the net which I caused -- but I really could have played much better. Heck, I think I played the last game better, and I was injured then. I think I was running around too much rather than playing a more stay-at-home style. Maybe their goalie was just hot. Maybe we were just really bad at getting the puck out of our end during the third period. I don't know. It was a very frustrating, agitating loss.

For upcoming seasons, I should probably spend some quality time with a bicycle (stationary or otherwise) to get my leg stamina back up. There were a couple points when my legs were reluctant to get back to work.

Now there will be a break of nearly a month before next season starts. But there will still be time to practice.

The usual plug: If you feel like following the team, look for the Bay Area Bulldogs in Conference D of the Pacific Hockey Association.
