title: What Have You Done To My Dog?! category: pets content: |
What happened?
The puppy is usually mischevious and impulsive, curious to a fault, and utterly focused on other dogs. This was not the case at the second week of puppy training class. Instead of spending 90% of the class time trying to keep her from distracting the other dogs (and getting occasional admonishment from the instructor) I spent only 20%. And she even performed some -- not all, just some -- of the desired behaviors on cue. This is a mind-bogglingly huge improvement over last week.
And walking her on a six-foot leash is almost pleasurable; after so much time on a four-foot leash, she seems almost relaxed and even cooperative. She may even follow my lead without any explicit communication.
So I ask this of the instructor: what strange voodoo have you worked on this dog to make her more manageable? Because I sure don't know...
