title: Season 2, Game 7: Bay Area Bulldogs vs. Panthers category: hockey content: |
This was a good game. But not because we beat the snot out of the rookies, 7-0.
Our goalie was not phenomenal, perhaps only facing one or two difficult shots all night -- I think the opposition only managed to get about ten shots on net -- but he was good enough to earn a shutout, so I can't really dock him any points for that. :-)
Defensively we played quite well, as evidenced by the score. Though there wasn't a lot of defense to play.
Playing as a defenseman in the offensive zone. That's where I got a lot of practice. I did a pretty good job of keeping the puck in the zone. I even got a few shots in on net, and had one rush at the net (and around, and behind). It was a lot of skating, though.
Overall, I was pleased. With practice, these Panthers will be a formidable team. They have some good skaters, and we know they have a good goalie. They look a lot like we did, six months ago. :-)
The usual plug: If you feel like following the team, look for the Bay Area Bulldogs in Conference D of the Pacific Hockey Association.
