title: Season 2, Game 9: Bay Area Bulldogs vs. Red Barons category: hockey content: |
It was bound to happen eventually.
A three-week hiatus from actual competition took its toll. We were frantic, we were unprepared, and mentally we just weren't there. And so we got the short end of the stick for the first time this season, shot down by the speedy Barons, 2-7.
Team highlights: nasty backhand shot from a few feet away found the back of the net for one of our two goals. And our goalie flashed the glove for an awesome save.
All the 4-on-4 hockey I have been playing has certainly done me some good. I play a bit more aggressively on defense, forcing opposing players to change up what they're doing. On the offensive side, my shots and passes have gotten a little crisper, but they still need practice. Unfortunately it has also done some harm; I'm more willing to skate out of position. Having no 5-on-5 for three weeks really stinks. Constant learning process, this.
The usual plug: If you feel like following the team, look for the Bay Area Bulldogs in Conference D of the Pacific Hockey Association.
